HALMED signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board

Siniša Tomić, Assoc. Prof., Head of the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices (HALMED) and Mr. Hugo Reinier Hurts, Executive Director of the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions in Lisbon on March 1, 2018.

This bilateral agreement defines the cooperation of HALMED and MEB, namely activities that the two institutions will jointly implement with the financial support of the Dutch government in the period from 2018 to 2020.

With this Memorandum HALMED and MEB declared their mutual willingness to engage into a long-term cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical policy and medicines regulatory affairs. HALMED and MEB will intensify their collaboration in the field of medicines regulation, with the aim to support HALMED in increasing its scientific capacity and experience, thus increasing its contribution to the work sharing within the EU medicines regulatory network.

This bilateral cooperation will consist of, among other, training of HALMED’s regulatory professionals, providing specific support and expertise to HALMED focusing on areas of interest expressed which include preclinical and clinical assessment of medicinal products, pharmacovigilance and quality assessment of medicinal products and exchange of expertise and best practices in the assessment of biological and biosimilar medicines, quality assessment of specific pharmaceutical forms and assessment of non-clinical data.
